The e-Niro is Kia’s Eco ambassador, bringing an exciting value proposition to the Kia line-up.
Homologation has been confirmed at a 282 mile range which is one of the highest in the market, which is even more impressive due to the fact that the e-Niro is the only mainstream fully electric C-SUV style car, providing great roominess and 451 litres of luggage capacity, +127L more than the Niro PHEV.
Before it hits Kia showrooms across the UK, the all-new Kia e-Niro has won two DrivingElectric awards including the inaugural Electric Car of the Year award. The first all-electric crossover by Kia also picked up Best Compact Electric Car.
Two prestigious automotive magazines have already delivered their verdict:
WhatCar ‘The Kia e-Niro pulls off a trick that many electric cars have thus far failed to do, and that’s to be a great electric car – one with a long range – as well as a good car overall...’ (5 star rating)
Auto Express ‘Here is a spacious five-door family car that offers the performance, range and charge times to make electric motoring viable to all…’
In addition it features a new high performance 64 kWh lithium-ion battery with 201bhp, the e-Niro comes only with a ’First Edition’ grade at launch, featuring cutting edge technology and high levels of standard specification, including: Sat-Nav, Rear View Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, JBL Premium Sound System, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Following Assist with driver attention warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Black Leather Upholstery.
Plug Type and Charging Times
The All-New e-Niro has a Type 2 charging inlet which allows the 64kWh battery to be fully charged in 9 hours and 50 minutes. Additionally, with CCS Combo charging, the e-Niro can be charged even faster: up to 80% in 1 hour and 15 minutes with a DC Rapid Charging Station with 50kW.
A 3-pin cable and a Type 2 cable will be provided with the car.
One of the highlights on e-Niro is the Regenerative Braking System. The shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel allow the driver to set up the braking level that will be displayed on the cluster. This braking level will increase the resistance the car applies when the foot is off the accelerator pedal, allowing the use of 5 levels of regenerative braking, from ’0’ to ’4’ (level ’4’ only available on ECO+ driving mode) which allows one-pedal driving (without using the brake pedal).
To complement this feature, the e-Niro is equipped with the Smart Regenerative System, which operates with the Smart Cruise Control, to reduce or increase the regeneration force depending on the distance from the car in front. Also, the Uphill & Downhill Prediction System interacts with the Navigation System to increase the regeneration force on downhills, helping to brake and saving energy to the battery, and reduce regeneration force when the car is on an uphill.
