The Carbuyer Awards were announced on 25 November 2020 and ran through 19 different categories, crowning a winner for each, before finally bestowing the award of ‘Overall Car of the Year’ to the fourth-generation Kia Sorento, judged by the entire editorial team at Carbuyer.
Richard Ingram, editor of Carbuyer.co.uk, said: “Our Best Large Family Car and our overall Car of the Year for 2021 has been awarded to what we consider the consummate all-rounder.
"The Kia Sorento is a versatile SUV that’s nipping at the heels of premium rivals, feeling luxurious and spacious in equal measure. Competition in this area of the market is fierce, but no other model comes close to the far-reaching talents of the fantastic Sorento. Congratulations to Kia on a well-deserved win.”
Jason Parker, Dealer Principal at Ken Brown Kia commented: “This is an outstanding achievement for the all-new Sorento, to be recognised as leader of the pack so soon after its release.
“With seven-seats and tonnes of luggage capacity, Sorento is the perfect car for families needing space and practicality. With four-wheel drive as standard, it’s also ready for whatever action is thrown at it and perfect for muddy trips.”
Available from Ken Brown Kia, the Sorento is on-sale now and comes with hybrid power for the first time, with prices starting from £38,845. Dependent on grade, new features include Terrain Mode to assist in challenging road conditions as well as a Blind-Spot View Monitor, which displays a live video feed into the instrument cluster when changing lanes to see another vehicle hidden in blind spots. A Plug-in Hybrid version, another first for the Sorento, will be on sale in early 2021. Sorento, like all the Kia range, comes with a seven-year / 100,000 mile warranty as standard.
