Business and Company Car Drivers Beat the Road Tax Increase

Did you know that as of the 1st of April the Government test procedure to determine pollutants on new vehicles will change from NEDC to WLTP.  What does this mean for you?  Should you be looking to purchase a new Kia this could mean a vehicle Excise Duty of up to £960 on your new Kia if you take delivery after the 31st March, meaning now is the best time to buy!  You could therefore save even more when you come to tax your vehicle.

  • At Ken Brown Kia, we are dedicated to helping you find your perfect vehicle, at the best possible price, which is why we wanted to alert you to the potential tax increase.

From 1st April 2020, the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) will come into play for all new vehicles. This is a more accurate way of measuring vehicles' official fuel consumption, range and CO2 emissions, giving a truer reflection of real driving conditions. Because the test is more stringent, the results are more realistic, and this could mean an increase in road tax for your new Kia. This change takes effect from 1st April for VED (Vehicle Excise Duty or Road Tax) and 6th April for Benefit in Kind on Company Car Tax.

While this could be seen as a bump in the road, as choosing a new car from April 2020 will result in an increased tax when compared with an identical model purchased earlier, it does present you with an opportunity to save now. So, if you're considering buying a new Kia, doing so before 1st April 2020 could save you from £320 to £960 on range the of Kia models, with a selection of models being unnaffected by the changes. Contact Ken Brown Kia to get behind the wheel today and beat the VED increase!

So if you're considering buying a new Kia, doing so before 1st April 2020 could save you up to £960.
