The Motability Scheme allows you to use your Government-funded mobility allowance to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. To order your car, you’ll need:
- Driving licence for you and any other named drivers
- Certificate of entitlement from either DWP or SPVA
- Proof of address, such as a recent utility bill

THE MOTABILITY SCHEME
BENEFITS
Your Motability lease contains everything to make your life much easier and to keep your car running in the best condition. Apart from your fuel, the benefits included are:
- A brand-new Suzuki, every three years
- Insurance, servicing and maintenance
- Full breakdown assistance
- Annual vehicle tax
- Replacement tyres
- Windscreen repair or replacement
- 60,000 mileage allowance over three years for cars
- 100,000 mileage allowance over three years for WAVs
- Many adaptations to your car at no extra cost
- Two named drivers for your car
Not a driver? Don’t worry – up to two named drivers are included as part of your lease and you can add a third driver at an additional cost. These can be yourself, your friends, your family or your carers.
If you chose to go for a Suzuki Motability car, you’ll also get metallic paint included in the lease - free of charge from us!

Am I eligible for the Motability Car Scheme?
Anyone with a higher rate mobility allowance and at least 12 month’s award left is eligible for the Motability car scheme. So, that includes:
✔ Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
✔ Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
✔ War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
✔ Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)However, the scheme is not simply limited to the driver. Claimant under 16-years-of-age, their parent, guardian or carer can qualify on their behalf. More information can be found on the Motability Scheme website.

There are a wide range of adaptations that can help make driving more convenient, whether that's through changing how you control the car, making it easier to get in or out, or helping you store your wheelchair or scooter.
You can tailor your car to your needs by having adaptions made to your Suzuki Motability car. You can now use your New Vehicle Payment to help towards your Advance Payment
Motability introduced the New Vehicle Payment last year to help with the rising costs of getting a new vehicle on the Motability Scheme. On 1 March 2023, Motability increased this payment to £750.
Now, Motability are giving you the option to send your New Vehicle Payment directly to Ken Brown, to help towards the cost of your Advance Payment on a new Suzuki.
This is instead of getting the New Vehicle Payment a few weeks after you’ve picked up your new vehicle and already paid your Advance Payment.
We hope that giving you this option will make it easier for you to order your next vehicle on the Scheme.

How it works
If you’re eligible for the New Vehicle Payment, you can now choose for this to be sent directly to Ken Brown to help towards the cost of some, or all, of your Advance Payment.
Your local Ken Brown dealer will ask if you’d like to do this when you’re ordering your new car or WAV.
If you choose to send your New Vehicle Payment to Ken Brown, we’ll arrange this for you before your new car is ready, so you do not need to do anything.
We’ll also confirm this in the letter we send to you once your order has been accepted.
If your Advance Payment is more than £750
You’ll need to pay the difference between the New Vehicle Payment and your Advance Payment to Ken Brown when you get your new vehicle.
For example, if you order a vehicle with a £1000 Advance Payment and choose to send your New Vehicle Payment to your dealer, you’d have £250 left to pay when you get your new vehicle.
If your Advance Payment is less than £750
We’ll send the difference to you within a week or two of you getting your new vehicle.
For example, if you order a vehicle with a £500 Advance Payment and choose to send your New Vehicle Payment to your dealer, we’ll send the remaining £250 to you within a week or so of you getting your new vehicle.
We’ll send this by bank transfer if you’ve saved your bank details in your Motability Scheme online account. If not, we’ll send a cheque.

Whats not included?
Although almost everything is included, please note you will be responsible for paying the following:
- Fuel and consumables; such as screen wash
- Optional extras not fitted as standard; such as leather seats
- Adaptations; some need an additional payment
- Insurance claims; there is a £75 minimum excess on any claim for loss or damage. This excess varies depending on the age and experience of the driver (full details can be obtained on application).
- Fines; any parking or speeding fines are your responsibility
- Theft of, or damage to, personal belongings; these include wheelchairs, coats or mobile phones (full details can be obtained on application).
Our new showroom is the perfect environment for testing out all our cars in, feel free to measure up the boot space and you can relax in comfort in our new customer lounge with free Wi-Fi, TV, coffee machine.
We don’t believe you should only be able to see one Motability specialist, so at Ken Brown Motors you’ll be able to discuss your needs with any of our sales executives, all of which are trained and accredited by Motability Operations.
